Born and raised in Shanghai, China, 天扬 Andre is a writer-director based in New York City. His work explores femininity and whimsy, often centering around the cross-cultural queer experience.
Andre has a BA in Graphic Design from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Before moving to New York in 2021, Andre worked as a graphic designer for companies such as Condé Nast, FINE & Fiu Gallery. Andre is currently an MFA Candidate at NYU Tisch Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Graduate Film.
His short One Way Trip Like an Arrow was selected to be presented with live performance by the NYU Symphony Orchestra at the Iris Cantor Theatre, New York in 2024. His latest short 月亮总在照顾大地 If I Make it to the Morning premiered at the 38th edition of MiX International Festival of LGBTQ+ Cinema and Queer Culture. The 150-second 2-part campaign Sunday Matinée that he wrote and directed for Peter Pan Donuts & Pastry Shop is also online now.
