Andre Shen is a Shanghainese writer-director and creative director based in New York, working across film, fashion and graphic design. His work explores queer longing and emotional exposure through pop culture, rooted in a persistent obsession with performance across gender, theater, pop and sex.
His film 月亮总在照顾大地 IF I MAKE IT TO THE MORNING has screened at BFI Flare (2025), MiXMilano (2024), and was selected for FiveFilmsForFreedom (2025) program, presented in partnership with the British Council. He is also a recipient of the C.V. Starr Fund for Asian/Pacific/American Institute Research (2023).
Andre’s latest short, HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK, now in the festival circuit, follows a rising pop star and his self-proclaimed creative director as a music video shoot unravels. He is preparing his feature which explores the ramifications of sexual relationships for straights and queers alike.
